Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 July 2026

This policy explains what personal information AutoSell Ltd (“AutoSell Ghana”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use autosellgh.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

Please read the section on social media publication carefully — if you list a vehicle with us, some of the information you provide is published publicly and posted to our social media channels.

1. Who is responsible for your data

AutoSell Ltd is the data controller for the information described in this policy. We are based in Accra, Ghana. You can reach us about anything in this policy at:

2. Information we collect

When you list a vehicle for sale

To publish and manage your listing we ask you for:

  • Your contact details — name, phone number, email address (optional), and your preferred way of being contacted.
  • Vehicle details — make, model, year, price, mileage, condition, transmission, fuel type, location and your description of the vehicle.
  • Photographs of the vehicle that you upload.

When you register a rental business

We collect your business name, contact name, phone number, WhatsApp number, email address, location, a description of the business, and details and photographs of each vehicle in your fleet.

When you create an account

If you sign in with Google or with an email sign-in link, we receive your email address and, where you sign in with Google, your display name and profile picture. We store the listings you have saved.

When you pay for a package

Payments are processed by Paystack. Your card and mobile money details are entered on Paystack’s systems and are never seen or stored by us. We store only the payment reference and whether the payment succeeded.

Automatically, when you browse

We use Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which set cookies and collect your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, and how you arrived at the site. This helps us understand which listings and pages are useful.

3. What is published publicly

When our team approves your listing, the following becomes visible to anyone on the internet: the vehicle details, your photographs, the asking price and the general location.

Your name, phone number and email address are not published on the website. Buyers who are interested contact AutoSell first — through our WhatsApp number — and we put them in touch with you. This is deliberate: it keeps your personal number out of public search results.

4. Publication to social media

When your listing is approved, we automatically post it to AutoSell Ghana’s Facebook Page, Instagram account and X (formerly Twitter) account. These posts include your vehicle photographs, the vehicle details, the price and the location, and a link back to the listing on our website.

Your listing may also be included in a weekly roundup post across the same channels. Once content has been posted to a social media platform, that platform holds its own copy under its own terms, and it may be shared onward by other users. If you ask us to remove your listing we will delete our posts, but we cannot recall copies that others have already shared.

Promoting listings across these channels is an integral part of the advertising service — it is how we reach buyers — so it is not a separate option you can switch off while keeping the listing live. If you would rather your vehicle was not promoted this way, please do not submit a listing. You can ask us to withdraw your listing and delete the associated posts at any time (see section 8).

5. Why we are allowed to use your data

  • Your consent — you give this when you tick the consent box on the sell form. You may withdraw it at any time (see section 8).
  • Performance of a contract — to deliver the listing package you have paid for.
  • Our legitimate interest — to prevent fraudulent or abusive listings, to keep the platform secure, and to understand how the site is used.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to keep records, for example for tax.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Supabase — database and photo hosting.
  • Vercel — website hosting.
  • Paystack — payment processing.
  • Resend — sending notification emails to our own staff.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and X — for the listing posts described in section 4.
  • Google Analytics — website usage statistics.
  • Prospective buyers — we pass on your contact details only when you ask us to connect you with an interested buyer.

Some of these providers store data outside Ghana. Where that happens, we rely on the provider’s contractual data protection commitments.

7. How long we keep it

  • Active and sold listings — kept while listed and for up to 24 months afterwards, so we can handle disputes and answer questions about past sales.
  • Rejected or withdrawn submissions — deleted within 6 months.
  • Account data — kept until you ask us to close your account.
  • Payment records — kept for 6 years, as required for tax and accounting.

8. Your rights under Act 843

Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 gives you the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you, and be told how it is being used.
  • Correct data that is inaccurate or out of date.
  • Ask us to delete your data, and to remove your listing from the website and our social media channels.
  • Object to or restrict processing, including withdrawing your consent to social media publication.
  • Complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana if you believe we have mishandled your data.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@autosellgh.com or message us on WhatsApp. We aim to respond within 14 days.

9. How we protect your data

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to seller contact details is restricted to authorised AutoSell staff through a password-protected dashboard, and our database is configured so that seller names, phone numbers and email addresses are not readable by the public website. We review these controls periodically.

No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Commission as required by Act 843.

10. Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work (for example to keep you signed in), and analytics and advertising cookies set by Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, but some features such as staying signed in will not.

11. Children

The site is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Where a change materially affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
